With the world increasingly subject to geopolitical tensions and potential tariffs, we wanted to investigate an innovative American liquor brand that combines sustainability with wellness and liquor—the aptly-named Holistic Spirits Co.
Holistic Spirits Co. was a revelation to us, and they’ve found a permanent home on our bar cart. They have two flagship liquors: Origen Vodka and Harmony Gin, and these spirits aim to please discerning drinkers who want to savor each sip and not be bothered by hangovers or the harsh, “downer” side of large batch commercial liquor. Origen Vodka is so smooth, and unlike other vodkas it is not clear—but a deep, rosy amber. Similarly, with Harmony Gin, which is far from your average run-of-the-mill “mother’s ruin!” That’s because both of these spirits are crafted by hand in small batches with a selection of curated botanicals. These spirits have been created with the care and attention normally reserved for reserve label wine—no artificial flavors, colors, additives, or GMOs. It’s all in the name—holistic.
Founding Story
Founded by entrepreneur Amy Holmwood and actor and environmentalist, Woody Harrelson, the Holistic Spirits Co. combines science, nature, and artisanal distillation to create innovative spirits that elevate the palate and the planet.
Infused with a proprietary, scientifically-patent pending blend of artichoke leaf, elderberry, muscadine grape, and green tea leaf extract, our spirits are designed for a better way to drink and created with transparency around ingredients and sustainable manufacturing in mind.
This is 100% plant-based liquor made by environmentalists. Plus, for every bottle sold a tree is planted with ForestPlanet.org. Approximately 2% of revenue goes to charitable partners.
Origen Vodka
Origen Holistic Spirits melds science, sustainability, and artisanal distillation for an innovative 74 proof spirit that brings botanical vodkas to the fore. Imagine a blend of elderberry, muscadine grape, artichoke and green tea as the infused notes of this vodka. No wonder it tastes so smooth and actually felt like it was doing us good as we drank it! Gone was the “downer” effects of hard liquor. Who knew vodka could be so good? Plus it looks very pretty in its hand-numbered bottle, and in the glass! We enjoyed it neat after a long day at work so we could savor all the traces of the botanicals.
Harmony Gin
Harmony Holistic Gin combines science, sustainability, and artisanal distillation for an innovative 90 proof gin that will change the way you think about botanical gins. With the same botanical blend as Origen Vodka, Harmony Gin is distilled with orris root (known for its delicate violet-like fragrance and so this explains the beautiful flower on the bottle label), hyssop coriander seed, lemon peel, lime peel, angelica root, and of course the traditional juniper berries.
Environmental Commitment
To reduce environmental impact, Holistic Spirits are made in the USA at a USDA green-certified distillery in Park City, Utah, that uses less water and recycles its byproducts back into farming. Zero-waste facility with no water waste processes.
