9 Lesbian Events Where Womxn Can Turn Up

Popular lesbian bars may have permanently closed, but these annual lesbian events – from Palm Springs to Ibiza – provide women with a safe space to celebrate and have fun.

The LGBTQ+ community has seen its fair share of popular lesbian bars and clubs close over the past few years. These are the safe havens where we gather to watch drag queens lip-synch for their lives, belt out our favorite tunes on karaoke night, or mingle with others over a cocktail and light conversation. And unfortunately, several lesbian bars have closed their doors permanently, limiting the nightlife options for ladies.

Although COVID-19 has forced organizers to cancel or rethink plans for some annual Pride parties and festivals, we wanted to curate a list of events where women can go and feel celebrated! From San Diego to Mallorca… here’s a list of annual events for girls who just want to have fun!

Velvet Ibiza
Where: Ibiza, Spain

The five-day all-inclusive festival is touted as the most epic queer women’s party in Europe. Pool parties, sports-related activities, clubbing, and music performances all happen at the host hotel, Hotel Cala Martina, which has breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea. For Velvet Ibiza, the price of your accommodations includes the five-night stay, entrance fees to parties, meals, and drinks. Attendees will have the opportunity to bond with other guests during fun outdoor activities and excursions, such as kayaking at sea and a nature walk. The annual event is known for attracting an international crowd of LBTQ women and it also allows them the freedom to be who they are no matter their body shape, skin color, or tax bracket.

Single Women’s Weekend
Where: Provincetown, Massachusetts

For all the single ladies, this weekend is for you! Visit Provincetown for this three-day event to help you mix, mingle, and if you’re lucky, not leave this beach town single. Single Women’s Weekend is full of eligible women ready to engage in fun activities such as speed dating, dance parties, mixers, a dune tour, a scavenger hunt, a Toys of Eros workshop, and much more! Organizers tout that 99% of previous weekend participants have either found someone they want to date or, at the very least, have made new friends and had fun during the annual event. Get inspired and plan your fun P-town weekend now.

Provincetown Womxn of Color Weekend
Where: Provincetown, Massachusetts

Usually scheduled the first weekend in June, the Provincetown Womxn of Color Weekend (WoCW) is a four-day Pride event designed to elevate, strengthen, educate, and celebrate people of color who identify as LBTQ women, trans, nonbinary, genderfluid, and those that love them. P-town has one of the highest same-sex couple populations in the U.S. but suffers from a lack of diversity. WoCW has been working intentionally to change that since it started in 2007. Through a series of events – workshops, shows, parties, and meals – WoCW is the place to create memorable and impactful moments with other like-minded people.

Girls in Wonderland
Where: Orlando, Florida

For lesbian travelers looking for another fun option the same weekend, you may consider planning a trip to Girls in Wonderland. All the fun goes down at the newly renovated Grand Orlando Resort at Celebration. The long five-day weekend promises to be packed with fun events and activities, including the Traffic Jam Opening Party – just remember to wear the right colors – red for taken, yellow to approach with caution, and green to go for it! Out for Laughs Comedy Show, the Latin-vibe Climax party, and the Wet Pool Party with DJs making waves on the turntables are just a few events on tap for this special weekend. Passes or individual event tickets are available for purchase.

She Fest
Where: San Diego, California

She Fest is a woman-centered event that celebrates and supports the talents and contributions of women while fostering meaningful connections within and between the LGBTQ+ and larger San Diego communities. The event is also meant to combat homophobia, transphobia, and the patriarchy, highlighting and celebrating the spectrum of “she.” She Fest is usually held every year during San Diego Pride.

Womenfest
Where: Key West, Florida

This five-day celebration, Womenfest,  has attracted thousands of lesbians, transwomen, and allies to what is arguably the premier LBTQ vacation destination in the country. This festival is all about celebrating all women with a wide range of activities for those who want to socialize, feel comfortable being themselves, soak up some sun, then party and dance the night away.  Plan your September vacation in the Florida Keys to immerse yourself in the hottest party women.

Eressos International Women’s Festival
Where: Lesbos, Greece

One of Europe’s most popular lesbian festivals takes place, appropriately, at the birthplace of Sappho. This unique, unspoiled beach village of Skala Erresos offers a great alternative to better-known, overpriced party resorts and encourages artistic expression and authenticity. It features an amazing program consisting of musical acts, historical tours and workshops for the mind, body, and spirit. It takes place from September 10th through the 24th. The Dinah
Where: Palm Springs, California

Club Skirts Dinah Shore Week, also known as “The Dinah,” is touted as the largest queer womxn event in the world. Over the course of five days, attendees experience several fun activities, including a festival, pool party, club nights, and a concert with well-known performers. Chaka Khan, Lady Gaga, Lizzo, and 90s girl group, SWV were previous performers to hit the stage at The Dinah.

Ella International Lesbian Festival
Where: Mallorca, Spain | Davos, Switzerland

Latinas are doing their own thing at the annual Ella International Lesbian International Festivals, usually hosted in different cities around the world and throughout the year. The Ella Global Community is a platform for queer women and non-binary people to celebrate, inspire and raise awareness of their challenges, successes, and aspirations. Where’s the next festival? Women will converge on Mallorca, Spain in October 2022 and Davos, Switzerland in Winter 2023.
