The Community Spirit Vodka Partners with West of Lincoln to Uplift the LA Queer Community

The Community Spirit Vodka is a top-shelf liquor that offers a new type of premium: a commitment to putting people over everything in a way that no brand ever has. Committed to a more socially just world, The Community Spirit has structured the brand around supporting and bettering the communities around us, by supporting changemakers in their efforts to build and bring together their communities.

One such changemaker and organization is Ben Tillotson of West of Lincoln. Noting there were no queer bars west of Lincoln Avenue in Los Angeles, Tillotson created the pop-up series of events, West of Lincoln, as an opportunity to build and bring together the queer community. Thanks to these events, LGBTQ+ people in LA now have forums to gather and socialize outside of West Hollywood and Downtown LA.

When The Community Spirit found out about the West of Lincoln project, they wanted to help and they did! After reaching out to Tillotson, they have been supporting the events by providing a location, the bar itself, and the bartenders to serve the drinks (Chica on The Rocks). The most recent event was held on June 23 at the Unlikely Florist to great success. They plan on continuing support for the project and future events.

The vodka itself was developed by the award-winning Casa Lumbre innovation team. It is made from 100% American corn and distilled five times to produce a crystal-clear vodka with a subtle aroma marked by notes of soft corn, hints of stone fruit, and a touch of coconut which makes it absolutely perfect for mixing cocktails.

A special feature of the West of Lincoln events was the signature cocktails developed by the bartenders from Chica on the Rocks using The Community Spirit Vodka. Since most of us don’t live in LA nor will we have a chance to hit up a West of Lincoln event; all parties involved have agreed to share the ingredients of their signature cocktails with us so we can try them at home (see below). It’s their way of extending their community-building efforts with us. Drink responsibly and enjoy!
