St. Patrick’s Day at 5-Star Dromoland Castle

Come March, all eyes turn to Ireland. Dromoland Castle, the 16th-century ancestral seat of the O’Brien family, is perfect for those who want to celebrate in the homeland of St. Patrick himself. Direct flights from New York to Shannon (a 10-minute drive from the hotel) on Aer Lingus are restarting in March, making it easy to book a long weekend trip!

For those who want to celebrate the day by exploring their Irish heritage, Dromoland Castle’s on-site genealogist Lorna Moloney is available to hold personalized genealogy sessions over Zoom, digging into family records, archival photographs, maps of ancestral land, and a treasure trove of information.

For those who want to do a little digging and then follow up by walking in their forebears’ footsteps, the Castle is launching a new package that begins with an in-depth session over Zoom with Lorna, followed up with information from Lorna on locations to visit to trace one’s roots, and culminating in a two-night stay at one of the world’s most famous castles.

Editor’s Note: Those who travel are strongly encouraged to check local government restrictions, rules, and safety measures related to COVID-19 and take personal comfort levels and health conditions into consideration before traveling.

The package includes:

  • 2 Nights Bed and Breakfast
  • Zoom call with Resident Genealogist, Lorna Moloney (then use Lorna’s findings to map out your trip in Ireland)
  • One Mrs. White’s Afternoon Tea with Lorna
  • Personal History tour of Dromoland Castle with historian Jane O’Brien
  • To get in the spirit, each guest is greeted with Irish coffee upon arrival.

Rate: €2,005 /$2711 (this price is based on Queen Anne Accommodation)

About Dromoland Castle
Set on 450 acres of parkland with 97 rooms and suites, Dromoland Castle dates back to the 16th century when it was home to the O’Brien family, whose lineage dates back 1,000 years to Brian Boru, one of the last High Kings of Ireland. Converted to a hotel in the 1960s and fresh off a $20 million renovation and restoration, Dromoland Castle exhibits the best of its regal Irish heritage. For more information, visit https://www.dromoland.ie.
