Virgin Atlantic and San Francisco Travel Seek UK’s ‘Next Iconic Drag Star’

Virgin Atlantic, SFO Airport and San Francisco Travel have put out the call to find the UK’s “next iconic drag star”. Queens, kings, and drag performers of all kinds are invited to participate in this one-of-a-kind contest.

The winner will receive an all-expenses-paid trip from London Heathrow to San Francisco from June 9th through 12th. They will be joined by RuPaul’s Drag Race UK alums Kitty Scott-Claus and Vanity Milan who will mentor them on this content creation trip which includes a Pride Month performance at the iconic venue, Oasis. The content will focus on their travel experiences and their preparation for the big gig.

Virgin Atlantic will cover the flight and send the winner over in style, via their “Upper Class” which includes some champagne, a three-course meal, and a lie-down bed for the long journey to California. On arrival, they will check-in at the Hilton Union Square which will serve as their home away from home in San Francisco.

Judges are looking for performers who champion individuality. Potential contestants are asked to film themselves performing Virgin Atlantic’s cabin crew safety demonstration with a twist and to write a few words explaining what winning would mean to them.

Entrees will be narrowed down by the Virgin Atlantic LGBTQ+ committee and finalists chosen at a viewing party in which San Francisco Travel will be in attendance. The top two finalists will be featured on Virgin Atlantic’s Instagram where a poll will be held for the public to choose the grand prize winner.

In addition to the trip to San Fran, the winner will receive VIP tickets for themselves and three friends to attend Manchester Pride taking place from August 27th through 30th.
