Belmond’s Royal Scotsman Features New Spa Plus Culinary and Adventure Experiences

For LGBTQ+ travelers who enjoy traveling by train, Belmond’s Royal Scotsman has a new Dior-inspired spa among other new features for passengers, and new onboard accommodations are set to debut in 2024.

We told you about how Belmond has embraced the LGBTQ+ traveler almost a year ago, but now the queer-friendly company will mark the new season with a long-term partnership with Dior Beauty. To mark the start of an epic season, Royal Scotsman, A Belmond Train, Scotland will now feature the Dior Spa Royal Scotsman. Guests can immerse themselves in this tranquil space to unwind and rejuvenate as the train snakes through Scotland’s awe-inspiring peaks and dramatic valleys.

It’s all to pay homage to Christian Dior’s love for Scotland – where he famously hosted his much-acclaimed fashion show in 1955. The new Dior Spa Royal Scotsman will be housed in one of the train’s plush carriages. Completely dedicated to wellness, the carriage will boast two lacquered treatment rooms, restyled with Dior’s iconic burgundy toile de Jouy motif.

Dior’s Spa offers special treatments such as the D-Travel body massage, the D-Elements full body treatment, and the D-Highlands facial inspired by Kobido facial massage techniques and the application of the Dior Prestige line. Dior Spa Royal Scotsman touts the ultimate beauty experience to complement guests’ outdoor wellness activities – such as wild swimming, hiking, and farm-to-table dining – to holistically enhance their overall well-being.

Action-Packed Scottish Adventure

If you like a bit of adventure on holiday, you should consider planning a trip aboard the Royal Scotsman sometime between June 30 to July 3, 2023. The Belmond luxury train will offer a new three-day Highland Survival Adventure itinerary for adrenaline-seekers. Former Royal Marines Sergeant, George MacHardy, and seasoned survivalist, Eliza Brown will guide guests on an outdoor journey to explore the indigenous flora and fauna, take part in a modern-day Royal Marines Commando Assault Training Program, feast on a ‘field-to-plate” meal prepared by WILDNIS’ Chef Tom Byrom, abseil down a cascading waterfall, and more! Guests will learn to unleash their innermost primal skills and survival abilities as they connect to nature far from the stresses of everyday life.

An Epicurean Getaway with Tom Kitchin

On September 4-6, 2023, passengers can embark on an immersive culinary adventure, A Taste of Scotland with Michelin-starred Chef Tom Kitchin. Guests’ palates will take a gastronomic journey through the country’s finest flavors. This unique itinerary will expose guests to Chef Kitchin’s ‘Nature-to-Plate’ philosophy, an exclusive wine masterclass with L’Art du Vin (local wine merchants), a four-course meal, and more.  Passionate about celebrating the Scottish larder and the wonderful game, meat, seafood, vegetables, and fruits that can be found across the country, Chef Tom Kitchin will host a memorable gourmet feast celebrating the best of Scotland’s land and sea.

New Luxe Grand Suites Set to Debut in 2024

Next May, the Royal Scotsman will debut two new Grand Suites to mirror the look and feel of a luxury country house, providing the ultimate setting for a cinematic Scottish escapade. The new suites will take the train’s accommodation categories to four: Grand Suites, Double, Twin, and Single cabins. The luxurious Grand Suites take inspiration from the destination through hues of green, gray, beige, and blue used for the handcrafted wall-covering, upholstery, and furniture. Local materials like stone and wood are abundantly used in the lavish ensuite bathrooms with an Edwardian flair and Celtic symbolism. Guests of the Grand Suites will also benefit from private transfers and rejuvenating treatment in the train’s moving spa – the only one of its kind in Europe.

A two-night, all-inclusive Highland Journey in a Grand Suite starts from £6,000 per person. The price includes private transfers to/from the hotel or airport as well as one spa treatment per person.
