The Future Home of Tinder’s Big Rainbow Has Been Decided!

The votes are in! The LGBTQ+-friendly town of Daylesford is now the new home of Tinder’s Big Rainbow. You may remember that Vacationer spilled the tea in August that the popular dating app had made the decision to support and fund The Big Rainbow Project to help find a home for the first landmark to celebrate Australia’s vibrant regional LGBTQ+ community.

Daylesford was on the short list of places vying to be the home for the queer landmark. Other contenders were Broom (Western Australia), Katherine (Northern Territory), and Hay (New South Wales).

On Tinder’s Instagram post announcing the big win, it states: “After 16,000+ votes from across Australia, we’re excited to announce the town of Daylesford as the future home of Tinder’s Big Rainbow. Here in regional VIC (Victoria), The Big Rainbow will stand as a lasting symbol for LGBTQIA+ pride & inclusion. Keep watching here for more news on its unveiling soon!

Daylesford is the perfect home for the new landmark for a variety of reasons, including the fact that the town is also home to the ChillOut Festival, which just started selling ticket bundles to its events scheduled March 9-13, 2023. That’s the week after Sydney WorldPride 2023, so you might as well extend your stay while you’re in Australia, right?

And if you do decide to visit Daylesford to explore the town, check out The Big Rainbow, and or the ChillOut Festival, you have to make sure you take a look at our Daylesford travel guide of fun things to see and do while you’re visiting the queer-friendly town.
