Plan Your Trip to Sydney WorldPride 2023

We’re excited about celebrating Sydney WorldPride 2023 from Feb. 17 – March 5, 2023. And the word on the street – according to Vacationer’s contributing writer and friend Craig Baldwin – is that tickets are already for sale to a few of the big party’s events, including the Live and Proud: Sydney WorldPride Opening Concert, the Ultra Violet party for queer women, the Domain Dance Party, touted as “the biggest LGBTQIA+ circuit event Australia has ever seen!”

If you’re going to the Pride celebration Down Under, you’d better snatch those tickets up as soon as you can before they sell out! But don’t worry… the line-up for this epic Pride celebration does include free events, such as the Mardi Gras Parade, on Sunday, February 25, and the Pride March across the Sydney Harbor Bridge on Sunday, March 5. And there are other parties and special events that are open to the public, too.

There’s something for everyone at Sydney WorldPride 2023. Throw on their best frock for the campest event of the festival – Mardi Gras Kaftana Pool Party at the Ivy Pool Club. But the event that has us excited the most is the Blak & Deadly: First Nations Gala Concert at Sydney Opera House Concert Hall on Thursday, March 2. It’s a two-hour concert to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait LGBTQIA+ artistry! And for the more socially conscious reveler, you can attend the Sydney WorldPride Human Rights Conference. We’re here for it all!

All of these events sound great, right?! So, it actually makes sense to start planning for your fabulous trip to Australia now to avoid the rush for tickets, accommodations, flights, etc. Even though the website for Sydney WorldPride 2023 has a special section for overseas travelers, Vacationer decided to reach out to Keith Wein, owner and founder of 127 Travel.

“Now is the time for queer travelers to plan and book their travel to World pride 2023,” said Wein. “As the world is traveling again, people are planning over a year out as airlines have fewer flights and availability and it has become harder to find space and great rates.”

The gay luxury travel advisor offers these quick travel tips if you’re planning a WorldPride vacation.

  • It’s really important to book with a travel agent. They will have the most competitive rates, be keyed into any restrictions, help you with any flight changes or cancelations if they arise, and you never need to wait in lines or on your phone.
  • In today’s travel climate, you should always purchase travel insurance for your international trip. It will save help you avoid those stressful situations if anything changes and also protect you against financial loss.
  • If you’re traveling as far as Australia, you might want to take advantage of a side trip to enjoy another travel destination such as Western Australia, New Zealand, or other easily accessible countries.
  • Always arrive two days before an event in the country you’re visiting to add in some padded time in case of a delay. You don’t want to miss your event after traveling so far!
